Srinagar: They say sky is the limit! And it is justified by the 24-year-old Kaneez Fatima, who is the second woman pilot working with the Air India from Ladakh .
Hailing from Leh, Kaneez was raised by her mother after her parents got separated. Her dream of touching the sky came true after prolonged hardships.
“She lifted a huge amount of loan from a bank for the same,” says her relative Abdul Majid, adding that “the entire amount lifted from the bank as a loan was spent on Kaneez and it will take her mother some more time to liquidate that.”
Kaneez studied at a local Imamia School at Leh. Later, her mother decided to shift her to Srinagar where she was enrolled in the Government Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh. Mother of Kaneez spent a lot of money to send her to Government Aviation Training Institute at Bhubaneswar in Orissa. “Now she is living her dream but it involved a lot of hard work,” says his relative.
